Mrs. Deborah Albrecht
Mrs. Deborah Albrecht, High School Reading Specialist, has a B.A. in Psychology from Muhlenberg College and a M. Ed. in Secondary Education and Reading Specialist certification from East Stroudsburg University. She has taught for 26 years and this is her 21st year at Stroudsburg. She teaches Academic Strategies and English Individualized courses. She has been listed in Who's Who Among American Teachers and is an advisor to the Bowling Club.

Mrs. Jessica Appolo
Jessica Appolo started teaching at Stroudsburg High School in 1998. She graduated from East Stroudsburg University, certified in Secondary Education with a concentration in English. She teaches sophomore American Literature. She served as Yearbook Advisor for six years and continues to serve as a Peer Mediation Coach. Ms. Appolo was nominated for Who’s Who Among American Teachers in 2004. Her poetry has been published and was a semi-finalist in an international poetry contest.

Mrs. Ilene Austin
This is Ilene's second year teaching in the English Department at Stroudsburg High School. Although this is Ilene's third year at the High School, teaching is not new to her. Prior to earning her secondary education teaching certificate, She taught Communication classes at Northampton Community College. In addition, she was a corporate trainer for Fortune 500 Companies such as AT&T and McGraw Hill. She received her undergraduate degree and teaching certification from ESU. She earned her Master's degree in Communications from Bloomsburg University. She is currently working on a second Master's degree in Education. Although she found teaching in a corporate environment very satisfying, she knew that teaching in an academic setting could prove to be more rewarding. Ilene knew that she had made the right decision.
Mr. Doug Batt
Doug has been teaching English in the District since 2000. He is a graduate of the University of Scranton. He has coached Junior High Softball and has served as an Assistant Soccer coach at the high school.

Mrs. Jennifer R. Batt
Jennifer R. Batt has taught at Stroudsburg for twelve years now. She attended the University of Scranton for both her undergraduate and Master's degrees. She teaches Drama 1, Drama 2, Senior Composition, Modern Literature, and 10th grade Honors English. She has served as a class advisor for 5 different classes and moderates Parallels, the school's literary magazine.

Mr. Karl Detweiler
Karl was raised in Easton, Pa and graduated from Easton H.S. in 1970. He then majored in Secondary Ed English at Kutztown State College ---graduating in 1974. Hired in 1977 at Stroudsburg High School, he has taught English grades 5 through 7 these past 30 years. Mr. Detweiler has coached wrestling at SHS for 30 years , winning over 270 matches. He also served as a baseball coach in the 1970's & 80's. He and his wife of 33 years live in the Stroudsburg area ; both enjoy travel and are golfers.

Ms. Shari Griswold
A native of Scranton and a graduate of Bishop Hannan High School, Shari Griswold worked as a hospital Pharmacy Technician for ten years and operated her own mobile disc jockey company. Graduated from Marywood University in 1995, she began her teaching career in Woodstock, Virginia as an Alternative Education/Language Arts teacher at the middle school level and came to Stroudsburg High School in 1999. A member of the English Department, Ms. Griswold teaches mostly Applied Communications seniors. In addition to her teaching duties, she also coordinates the school’s Peer Mediation program and Celebration Team and has been a class advisor for the Class of 2002 and the Class of 2007. Her son, Cody, graduated from SHS and they reside in Snydersville.

Mr. Richard Mell

Richard Mell joined the English faculty in 1988. He previously taught at Phelps, a private boarding school located in suburban Philadelphia. He holds degrees from Albright College and Kutztown University. Mell teaches Advanced Placement Language and Composition, British Literature, Public Speaking and Debate, and 11th grade CP English. Since 1991 he has directed the high school musical. Mr. Mell is current chairman of the English Department.
Mr. Laszlo Onody
Mr. John Primavera
Mr. Primavera started at SHS in 2007. He is a reading Specialist teaching Academic Strategies and the English Individualized Program.. For the last 13 years he taught in the Allentown School District as a Reading and English teacher. He worked as a D & A counselor, autistic resident worker and a New York Dept. of Sanitation Supervisor. His B.A. is from St. Peter's College and his M.ED. is from E.S.U. He is also certified in secondary English Lit. His hobbies are building dioramas ( A few are displayed in the school library.), stained glass cutting and playing the guitar.

Mrs. Janet Smith
Janet M. Smith has been at SHS for 32 years. She is a reading specialist and English teacher in the high school reading program and teaches Academic Strategies and English Individualized classes. She attended East Stroudsburg University, receiving a BS degree in secondary English and Master's degree in Reading. She has been involved in yearbook and has been the AWARE club advisor.

Mr. Matthew Sobrinski
Matt Sobrinski has been teaching at SHS for 13 years. He currently teaches several electives: Journalism, Film Studies and Creative Writing. He attended West Chester University and East Stroudsburg University and earned a BS degree in education from the latter. He also earned an MFA in Creative Writing and Literature from Penn State University. Sobrinski currently advises the Mountaineer, SHS’s newspaper; he is also assistant freshman boys basketball coach and assistant varsity golf coach.

Mrs. Jackie VanGorden
Mrs. Van Gorden graduated from East Stroudsburg High School and earned her BS in Elementary Education with a minor in English from East Stroudsburg State College. She was a substitute teacher for Stroudsburg School District, but took a position with Shawnee Inn, where she worked for Mr. Charles Kirkwood for 19 years. In 1993, she landed a part-time position in Title 1 Reading at Morey Elementary school while still working part time at Shawnee. She was offered and accepted a full-time position at Stroudsburg High School as a Instructional Assistant in the Reading Department in 1995. She obtained her M.Ed and Reading Specialist certification from East Stroudsburg University in 1998. Mrs. Van Gorden developed the English as a Second Language program at SHS in 1999. She received her second Master's Degree from the University of Turabo, PR and ESL Specialist certificate in 2005. Mrs. VanGorden earned her Secondary Certificate for English grades 7-12 in 2008. She is the co-advisor of the SHS Bowling Club.

Geraldine has a B.S. with certification in Speech/Language Pathology and a M.Ed. with Reading Specialist Certification. She has been teaching for eleven years and this is her third year at Stroudsburg.
